Big spender: Jennifer Aniston spent $450,000 on artwork at a charity auction to benefit Haiti

Money appears to be no object for Jennifer Aniston when it comes to home decor.

The actress, who recently bought, refurbished and sold a house for a whopping $35 million, reportedly dropped a staggering $450,000 at a charity auction on a painting for her new New York crib.

And the 42-year-old star had her hunky beau Justin Theroux do the bidding.

Jen picked up the artwork, called Stranger #44, an abstract 2011 work of oil, charcoal and graphite on canvas, by Glenn Ligon, at the 'Artists for Haiti' auction in NYC on Thursday.

'Aniston, who was in the room, clapped enthusiastically after [Theroux's] winning bid,' reported artinfo.com.

The auction, co hosted by Ben Stiller, benefits health and education programs in Haiti, with artists donating their works for the cause.

Charitable: The actress attended two events this week thrown by The Stiller Foundation, the auction on Thursday night followed by a dinner on Friday night (pictured)

Along with Jen's contribution it raised a total of $13,662,000.

The couple also attended a dinner the following night at Almond in New York, also thrown by Ben Stiller for his charity, The Stiller Foundation.

Aniston is good friends with the actor and his wife Christine Taylor, and she and Justin holidayed with the couple in Hawaii over the summer.

Star-studded: Susan Sarandon also attended the dinner at Almond in New York, thrown by Ben Stiller

Also at the dinner on Friday were Susan Sarandon and music producer Mike Jean.

Jennifer was low-key in a printed dress over tights and ankle boots.

She threw her hair up in a twisted bun and wore a black coat over her dress when she and Theroux ventured out into the rainy weather.

Their attendance at the charity events this week comes as it was reported that Jen's ex-husband Brad Pitt was 'read the riot act' by Team Aniston over recent comments he made about their five-year marriage.

The actor told Parade magazine that he 'wasn't living an interesting life' before meeting current partner Angelina Jolie, and that he was 'trying to pretend' that his time with Jennifer was 'something that it wasn't'.

And according to Us Weekly, Jen, 'was annoyed'.

'She thought it was rude and inappropriate,' said a source.

Her agents and publicists 'went ballistic' according to a second insider, and wasted no time contacting Pitt's people.

'They got his team involved and Brad was read the riot act - the only way you can read the riot act to Brad Pitt,' the source said.

The father-of-six later released a statement claiming that his words had been misunderstood, and described his ex-wife as 'an incredibly giving, loving and hilarious woman'.

But the insider added: 'No one believes his words were taken out of context - he said what he said. I do hear that he's remorseful.'

Today Pitt went into even more damage control as he appeared on The Today Show this morning.

He told Matt Lauer of Jennifer: 'She's good people. She, you know, there, there should be a statute of limitations on this.'

Pitt also shut down Lauer when the television journalist attempted to read the offending Parade magazine quotes to him.

'No, I, you know, please don't read it ... ' he pleaded.

The actor continued to allude that his quotes were taken out of context.
'I don't want to be encumbered by any of that,' he said.

'I know my intentions, and I know what I believe, and I know things get misconstrued. I live outside of, of that, and it's much healthier.'

He also admitted that perhaps he should censor himself a bit more.

'I don't wanna live on guard and I should be more on guard, I guess,' he said.

'It's always been a part of the territory. I've got a knack for stepping into sh*t. And it's OK. It's alright.'
