Saif Ali Khan, Abhay Deol in battle of the zombies

Saif Ali Khan, Abhay Deol

Saif Ali Khan, Abhay Deol

The fascination of Indian audiences with ghosts, spectres and ghouls will now be extended to zombies as two zom-coms -- Saif Ali Khan-produced "Go Goa Gone" and Abhay Deol-starrer "Shaadi of the Dead" -- are set to go on floor at the same time.

"Shor in the City" co-directors Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K.'s "Go Goa Gone" is about a bunch of youngsters out to have fun who get assailed by zombies while "Manorama 6 Feet Under" director Navdeep Singh's 'Shaadi..." is about an attack by zombies while a Punjabi wedding is on.

Both the projects take a lighter look at the cult of zombies.

Interestingly, both the projects want to get on with their respective zombie films on the floor immediately. Each one wants to be the first zombie film to hit the screens.

While Kunal Khemu, who plays the lead in "Go Goa Gone" feigns ignorance of the other project, "Shaadi..." producer Sid Jain says he's aware of the other project.

"More films will help widen the genre, so I'm happy someone else is attempting a zombie film. But I plan to make a series of zombie flicks. In fact, even before "Shaadi..." goes on the floors, we have planned the sequel 'Honeymoon Of The Dead'," he said.

I wouldn't like to say anymore except we are very happy together," Saif, 40, said in a press statement.

Saif and Kareena, 30, who are considered one of the hottest couples in Bollywood, are seeing each other for the past four years. And they even featured together in films like "Tashan" and "Kurbaan".

Saif Ali Khan And Kareena Kapoor At 64th Cannes Festival

The list of Indian actors walking the red carpet at the 64th Cannes International Film Festival is getting longer. The latest to join the bandwagon is Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan and he is excited about attending the gala, starting Wednesday.

Saif will represent liquor brand Chivas Regal, official partner of Cannes film festival.

"It’s really exciting to represent the brand at Cannes. There would be lots of international artists at the festival and it’s really nice to be part of that," said Saif Thursday, adding he will walk the red carpet in "a black tie and dinner jacket."

Asked if his actress girlfriend Kareena Kapoor will accompany him, he told reporters: "No, Kareena is not going to be in Cannes with me this time."

His mother Sharmila Tagore was once on jury at the Cannes film fest.

When asked about her reaction, he said, "You know, it’s not that someone is giving me the Oscars (Laughs). She said go and enjoy."

This year no Indian film has made to the competition section at the prestigious film fest, and Saif said: "I hope one day we can take our film there to compete."

Other stars from India to walk the red carpet include Aishwarya Rai, a regular at the gala event, Freida Pinto, Sonam Kapoor and Minissha Lamba.

Bebo Was Shivering In An Off-Shoulder Outfit

saif-kareena-Agent Vinod

An interesting tidbit on Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor from the shoot of their spy thriller, Agent Vinod. A few weeks ago, when they were filming in Latvia, it was freezing, considering the thanda thanda cold cold winters high up in the north location. However, it seems like Khan had it easier shooting in the outdoor locations as he was wearing a coat for his scenes... while Bebo was shivering in an off-shoulder outfit.

My super sleuth recalls the actor-producer’s take on his comfort as against his heroine’s in such adverse weather, saying that Khan conceded that while heroes don’t have much trouble, heroines end up looking better despite working in tougher conditions. Must admit, Saifu ki baat mein dum toh hai. What say Bebo?

Kareena Kapoor Loves Being Eco-Friendly

p-gstaad_palace1

She left last night for Switzerland on a 10-day trip with beau Saif Ali Khan. The couple will be staying at a chalet-hut owned by the Gstaad Palace which runs on solar energy.Says a source, "Bebo and Saif believe in preserving the eco-system in their own way. Last year, she had promoted eco-friendly handbags. Every year, they re-cycle their fir trees during Christmas.

This year, Kareena and Saif will be staying for a few days at the Gstaad Palace in Switzerland and then shift to a wooden hut (the Walig Hut) built like a small 18th century chalet at 5000 feet above sea level. The 300-year old hut has been carefully restored with basic plumbing and solar-powered electric lighting. Saif loves skiing, so every year the couple have been spending their New Year’s on the Swiss Alps."

The chalet-hut is very expensive costing over £1, 000 per night for two adults. This includes a sumptuous three-course meal with wine and champagne. The hut’s back-to-nature experience is an attraction to people who normally live their lives in comfort. The couple will initially spend a few days at the Tower Suite in the Gstaad Palace. "The Gstaad Palace offers a breathtaking view of the majestic Swiss Alps and is one of Saif’s favorite hotels.

A wide variety of activities such as golf, heli-skiing, hot-air-ballooning et al are available near the hotel."Built in 1913, the Gstaad Palace is set on a hill overlooking the beautiful town it is named after. The tastefully decorated 104 rooms include 29 junior suites, and the luxurious and sophisticated three-bedroom Penthouse Suite. The Palace offers gourmet dining in five different restaurants, live entertainment in two bars, and dancing at the famous GreenGo nightclub.

Before leaving for Switzerland, Kareena took an entire day off from work and spent it with her dad Randhir Kapoor. A source close to the actress says, "Kareena has been constantly shooting for her films and ads and hardly had any time to spend with her father. Incidentally, he too was holidaying in the USA. They met up for lunch yesterday and spent the whole day together catching up."

Saifeena Planning To Tie The Knot Around 2012

saif-ali-khan-kareena-kapoor

Kareena Kapoor might be very satisfied on both her professional and personal life but little did we know about her mood swings. Off late, the actress has been quite a bit irritated and wants to be left alone. And there are times when she does not even want her beau Saif by her side.

To overcome her unpredictable mood swings, the Kapoor lass goes on a long shopping sprees. Moreover, she knows the new man in her life does not have enough patience to accompany her when she is shopping. But Kareena does not complain as she feels best when she shops endlessly alone.

Talking about Kareena’s fetish for shopping whenever she is feeling down and out, a source told a daily, "Kareena and Saif usually have small skirmishes since Saif finds it really tough to accompany Bebo on her shopping expeditions.

Such is the level of incompatibility here that Saif has decided to let Bebo be on her own. Even Kareena prefers the same since she wants to take her own sweet time while shopping, something which Saif can hardly stand."

And with the news of Saifeena planning to tie the knot around 2012, it must be quite a task for Saif to handle his ladylove with all the care and attention. What will Saif do to keep Kareena’s mood under check? Any guesses people?

Saif Ali Khan To Get A Hot Mexican Look

Saif Ali Khan Mexican Look

And now, Sher Lock Holmes has made an entry into my boudoir, smiling.

When I ask, he says that he’s decided to style himself the way Saif Ali Khan has for his new potato chips campaign for a leading brand.

It seems the actor worked hard to get a hot Mexican look. He’s tanned beautifully, says Holmes.

His cheeks have sunk in, he has a golden stubble and light eyes in the campaign’s look.

Nawabsaab shot for the ad campaign recently in the city, where several of his lady fans went berserk screaming out of happiness that their hero was looking too hot to handle.

I must say, I also want to take a look at the man, pronto!

We Apologise-Saif Ali Khan And Kareena Kapoor

Kareena Kapoor (12)

Turning up late at events has become a fad for celebrities. But this time around Bollywood’s ’it’ couple - Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor - were in a rude shock when the media collectively staged a walk out after waiting for them for over three hours at a launch of a shoe brand.

Aware of the media’s walkout, the couple turned up in a rather sombre mood. Kapoor took the first step to apologise to the few people who had stayed back.

"We apologise to have made you wait for so long. There was a major traffic jam due to last day of the visarjan and hence we got held up," she said, as Khan added, "We were getting restless in the car but we couldn’t do much."

While their delay miffed many, the fact is that Kapoor is the first choice among advertising professionals for brand endorsements. According to a report by AdEx India (TAM Media Research), she is the leading female actor endorsing the maximum number of brands.

Saif Ali Khan Tied Up With Playstation

Saif Ali Khan has tied up with game creator Sangam Gupta of Trine Animation and Gaming Studio, one of the few Indian companies that create Xbox and PlayStation games. The pre-release promotions for the actor-producer's next home production, Agent Vinod, will kick off in April 2011 with a PlayStation game and a comic book. A keen gamer himself, Khan lists his favourite games as Half Life and Quake for PS2 amongst first person shooters, and Age Of Empires and The Mist amongst strategy titles. His new partner, 24-year-old Gupta, has eight-nine games to his credit, including Gothic 3, WiiYoga, and Sony's soon-to-release Street Cricket.

The Delhi whiz kid has been in talks with the superstar for the last three weeks. He cracked the deal by showing Khan one of his faves - Uncharted 2: Among Thieves - also revolving around a secret service agent on a treasure hunt. "Saif loved it and we're trying to come up with an action shooter game along those lines. You get to play Agent Vinod and go looking for clues around the country, interacting with other characters, including Kareena's (Kapoor) along the way," informs Gupta.

For all ages

The game and the comic book will also include characters that are not part of the film. "The idea is to come up with a different medium of expression that will appeal to kids and adults," says Khan, who is brainstorming with Gupta on the graphic style and visuals in consultation with director Sriram Raghavan, and will do the voiceover himself, along with the other actors.

Earlier, too, Bollywood movies have come up with such games, but not one that reportedly costs over Rs 5 crore. Khan refuses to discuss figures but admits that the "scale is fairly impressive". Gupta asserts that in terms of platform, technology and hardware, it will be on par with games based on Hollywood movies. "What will set it apart is that it's set in India and has a 'desi' feel to it. If you look at the $1 billion gaming markets in China and Korea, the most popular games have local characters and indigenous themes," he reasons.

Agent Vinod is Gupta's stepping-stone to Bollywood, which he believes is an untapped market. "Hollywood's big ticket movies spend $10-15 million on such games that are proven models in the UK and US. And even during the global slowdown, the PS2 and PS3 markets were unaffected because a game offers 30 hours of entertainment for as little as Rs 500. In the US, the gaming market is bigger than that of movies and music put together," he points out. "Even back home, the consumption numbers have doubled since last year. It's the right time for Agent Vinod to step in," he adds.

Saif Ali Khan Spend Quality Time With His Kids

Kareena is believed to be very uncomfortable around Saif’s children. In fact, she is known to avoid them whenever they are around. If that isn’t possible Kareena just moves back to her own apartment when the children are with Saif.

Obviously, Saif is left with no option but to leave her company to be with his children. So be it. After wrapping up his Agent Vinod schedule in Morocco, Saif quickly took off for London to spend quality time with his kids Sara and Ebrahim, who are currently holidaying in London with their mother Amrita Singh.

Apparently, London is one of Amrita’s favourite holiday destinations and the kids too enjoy there whenever they go.

A source revealed, “Saif has been shooting for almost a month. He has been away from the country either shooting or doing recci for his home production Agent Vinod.

The actor was shooting with his girlfriend Kareena Kapoor in Morrocco for the film and luckily it was wrapped up way before schedule.”One hopes Saif didn’t rush things... Apparently not.

Saif didn’t want to come back to Mumbai as there was not much work here. He decided to fly to London, where his kids are currently holidaying with their mother Amrita Singh.

Film The Descent 2 Director To Direct Saif Ali Khan

There’s something quite English about the Junior Nawab of Pataudi Saif Ali Khan. Not only did he study at Oxford, he has always had a weakness for everything British. Now, it seems, the British are reciprocating. Jon Harris director of the film The Descent 2 and renowned editor of half a dozen films like The Pond, Eden Lake, Stardust, Snatch, Kick-Ass and soon to be release X-Men: First Class has a unique relationship with Bollywood.

Jon Harris had edited the critically acclaimed film Being Cyrus directed by Homi Adajania with Saif. Recently, while giving interviews for the promotion of the film The Descent 2 he was asked a question about one actor with whom he would like to work with and why.

To this Jon Harris quickly replied “Saif Ali Khan. I haven’t met him but I loved his role in a film for which I was an editor. The film is called Being Cyrus and my friend Homi told me that it was a critically-acclaimed movie in India. I am looking forward to work with the actor if I get an opportunity.”

When asked about Saif, Jon says, “Saif has this unique feature he can look young, at the same time mature. I would have loved to cast him in this horror film, but apparently the story had no male actors in a prominent role and it was a sequel so there has to be a continuation. I look at him as the Wolverine ie., Hugh Jackman of India and am really looking forward to direct him as soon as I get a green signal for my next projects as director.”

Actor Saif Ali Khan Refused To Join Social Networking Site Twitter

Actor Saif Ali Khan says he won’t join Twitter because he feels a gap should be maintained between an actor and the audiences.

“Personally, I won’t be on Twitter because I don’t feel the need. I don’t want to share my thoughts,” Saif said at an event in Mumbai. “I don’t know what I will say. And I personally feel that some distance should be maintained between the audiences and the actor. That’s my personal opinion.”

But he admitted that social networking sites serve as a wonderful platform for the publicity of a film. “It’s a wonderful platform to do the publicity of a film and it is a wonderful way to reach out to the youth as it is very, very popular. Anyone in any kind of marketing cannot afford to ignore the social networking platform,” said Saif.
