A sequel to the 2001 blockbuster starring Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan is in the pipeline, confirms Karan Johar

Ten years after its release the multistarrer blockbuster Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham, finally gears up for a sequel.

Though Amitabh Bachchan had been blogging about the possibility of a venture that takes the travails of the Raichand family forward, for some time now, director and producer Karan Johar confirmed to Mumbai Mirror that he would indeed like to recreate the magic of K3G, soon.

Admitting to the fact that K3G 2 is indeed in the pipeline, Karan said, "It's a workable idea. I am no longer averse to it. It would be a bold step if I make it."

Also, the fact that the six key cast members of the film - Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor are all gung-ho about the sequel makes the project a certainty.

"It's very strange. But all the six main members of the cast are as dear to me now as they were 10 years ago when I made the film. I'm sure they're as charged about the sequel as I am," said Karan, who had already revealed his plans about the sequel to the concerned members of the cast.

In fact, the seed of the idea for a sequel was planted by one of them.

"At first, when his friends suggested a sequel, KJo just laughed it off saying that it was financially impractical to attempt something so big in this day and age.

However, Big B made him realise that a sequel was not only possible but also desirable. Mr Bachchan also said that only Karan could pull it off," informed a source.

Talking about the sequel, Big B even revealed on his blog, "It would be a story on the growth of the brothers and the problems that arise because of their independent understanding and working of the business empire of the father, a split within them and so on..."

The recent success of sequels added to Karan's conviction. With the Golmaal, Dhamaal and Murder franchises doing better than most first time films this year, the idea for a multistarrer sequel gained ground.

With Dostana 2 failing to take off, a sequel to the Raichand family saga might be what Dharma Productions needs to join the trend.

Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham in 2001 was nominated across fifteen categories at the Filmfare Awards.

It won five, making this one of the 'tallest family films' by Dharma Productions. And if all goes well, we may soon be seeing the Raichands repeat their success on screen, ten years after they first made an appearance.

Kajol Is Expecting Her Second Child

Kajol, who is expecting her second child, is not praying for a son. She says she is equally enthused by the idea of having another girl child in her family.

The actress has a daughter with actor husband Ajay Devgn.

"I’m just hoping for a healthy happy baby and a healthy happy momma to look after the baby. I have a wonderful daughter. How can I say no to another girl just like her? I don’t believe I need a son to complete my family. My sister Tanissha and I made quite a complete family," said Kajol.

The 35-year-old, who made her debut with ’Bekhudi’ in 1992, gave hits like ’Gupt’ (1996) and ’Dushman’ (1998). She teamed up with her husband in box office successes like ’Ishq’ and ’Pyaar To Hona Hi Thaa’. But her maximum hits were with Shah Rukh Khan that includes blockbusters like ’Baazigar’(1993), ’Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ (1995), ’Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ (1998) and ’Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ (2001).

For those who are hoping to see more of Kajol on screen after she becomes a mother a second time, there’s disappointment in store. Kajol doesn’t intend to increase her volume of work after motherhood.

"I’ve worked a lot. I enjoy doing just one-two films a year. I don’t think I want to do more than that. I’m happy with my pace of work. If I do too many films people would get bored of me."

This year she was seen in ’My Name Is Khan’ and her next ’We Are Family’ is scheduled for a September release and she will also be seen with her husband in ’Toonpoor Ka Super Hero’.

Any plan of a comeback after motherhood?

"It all depends on how I feel after I have my baby. I refuse to take a decision here and now. It’s my prerogative to do what I like. I firmly believe women should have babies when they can take care of them. As simple as that.

"I want my baby to arrive and I want to watch him or her grow. I took time to have a second baby because I wanted to have the time to give myself fully to motherhood. I refuse to miss out on the joy of watching my child grow for anything in the world," said the actress.

Hollywood's Stepmom Becomes Bollywood's We Are Family

After mulling over the title of his Hindi version of Chris Columbus’ 1998 comedy drama Stepmom for a long time, Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar has finally decided to go with the name We Are Family.

"Ok guys…here goes the title of our official Stepmom adaptation - We Are Family…will post the release date in a few days," Karan revealed through a post on micro-blogging site Twitter.

The 38-year-old filmmaker had promised fans that he would announce the name of the film on Twitter first, and he kept his word.

The movie is a heartwarming tale about a terminally ill divorcee who has to accept the new woman in her ex-husband’s life as the stepmother of her kids and the problems they face to find a common ground of understanding.

While it was earlier being called Love You Maa, Karan was still on the lookout for a suitable title and had even asked his Twitter followers to suggest one.

"We Are Family", directed by Siddharth Malhotra, features Kajol, Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal. It is expected to release in October. (IANS)

Bollywood Actor Kajol to spread awareness on thyroid disorders

Bollywood actor Kajol now has a new mission in hand - to spread awareness on thyroid disorders.

As brand ambassador for the Abbott India Ltd healthcare company, she is urging women to take thyroid tests so that they can take timely medical advice and avoid complications.

"Most Indian women are unaware of the symptoms and impact of thyroid disorders. I urge them to undergo thyroid tests to ensure a healthy life," Kajol, 34, said in a statement.

"Above all, expectant mothers should mandatorily go for thyroid tests as thyroid disorder during pregnancy may lead to a lower IQ in the baby," said the actress who is expecting her second child. She has a daughter with actor husband Ajay Devgn.

According to the Indian Thyroid Society, an estimated 420 million Indians suffer from thyroid disorders with almost 90 percent undiagnosed.

R.V. Jayakumar, president of The Indian Thyroid Society, said: "People are struggling with obesity, depression, infertility and many other problems yet most Indians never think of a thyroid checkup. If properly informed, diagnosed and treated, they will realise that their symptoms were actually because of untreated thyroid problems."

"As a precautionary measure, women should check their thyroid stimulating hormone level as soon as pregnancy has been confirmed," he added.
