A bad trip: As model stumbles at Amanda Wakeley show, industry insider warns it could deal savage blow to her career

By Deborah Arthurs

Caught up: The model's heel becomes snagged in the hemline of her long dress, and she struggles to free herself so she can continue her walk up the runway

It's surely the moment that every model dreads. With all eyes - and lenses - scrutinising their every step, no girl wants to take a tumble.

So it was likely a mortifying moment for this model at yesterday's Amanda Wakeley show when her heel got tangled up in the long hemline of her dress, leaving her struggling to free it as she stumbled up the catwalk.

A sympathetic audience willed her on as she attempted to disentangle herself from the fabric, eventually managing and continuing her walk, only to trip again as she exited the runway.

Still struggling: Almost on safe ground, the model falls into difficulty yet again as she reaches the entrance to the backstage area as the other girls continue their walk

It's not the first Fashion Week slip up either. At Mark Fast's show on Monday, one model's heel repeatedly snagged on the long hem of her loose-knit dress. After stumbling several times, she finally released the offending heel and continued walking to the top of the catwalk - but tripped yet again, this time right in front of the bank of photographers.

No girl wants to have the spotlight thrown on her thanks to a blunder - even when as is frequently the case, it is the impractical clothes or shoes that are at fault.

Worse, a model agency insider tells us a high profile fall could be career-threatening.

'It's quite common for girls to be quietly dropped by their agents after tripping or falling during a show, the source told MailOnline.

Dreaded moments: Left, a model at the Mark Fast show repeatedly stumbled when her heel became caught up in the loose-knit dress she wore; right, a model trips at the Amaya Arzuaga show during Madrid fashion week

'As far as the designers are concerned the model's job is to make the clothes look fantastic. That's compromised when she starts stumbling down the catwalk like a drunk.

'If the girl' is a 'new face' it could terminate her career before she's even really got started. Walking is how new faces launch or raise their profile in order to land moneyed jobs like advertising campaigns.

'Tripping or falling on the catwalk draws attention to the girl for all the wrong reasons.

'If the model has an existing profile and clientele then she will probably survive a few stumbles - look at Naomi Campbell.'

Well handled: Naomi Campbell fell on the Vivienne Westwood catwalk in Paris back in 1993, but managed to handle the issue with grace

Indeed, Naomi Campbell's tumble on the Vivienne Westwood catwalk in 1993 showed that sometimes it's not the slip or fall that is the biggest issue: it's how the girl deals with it that matters.

'Naomi laughed it off, stood up and finished her walk with grace. The pictures went global - it was actually fantastic publicity.'

Nevertheless, Naomi's positive experience is a rare one, and the chilling truth is that girls without her standing may find they have blown their chances of working with big designers after tripping down the runway.

'There are a million reasons why a girl might trip - but even so, they all dread it equally. It can make them feel like they've failed,' our source said. 'It makes them look unprofessional.'

'I know girls who will do anything to avoid it, include asking for shoes a bone-crushing size too small to ensure there is no chance of their high heels coming loose half way down the catwalk.

'I came across one girl who carried sandpaper in her Gucci handbag and used it to rough up the bottom of her show shoes to give her extra grip.

'My advice to them if the unthinkable happens is to look unfazed. I did see a girl do a little curtsey once after a fall, which was cute. But I'm not sure I'd recommend that to all. You need to be quite a character to be able to pull that off.

'Just Smile graciously; laugh it off. The designer, and the photographers, will appreciate it.'

What are friends for? Holly Willoughby on hand to support Fearne Cotton at her Very collection show

By Holly Thomas

What are friends for: Holly Willoughby was on hand to make Fearn laugh as she showed off her new collection for Very

They have been firm friends for many years and despite their different jobs are always on hand to champion the other.

So it was no surprise to see Holly Willoughby on hand to support Fearne Cotton as she launched her latest fashion line for Very earlier today.

The best friends posed together with Fearne wearing the second ensemble of the show, a lilac shift maxi dress with sheer panelling.

Dynamic duo: Fearne's best friend, This Morning presenter Holly Willoughby, attended the show

This Morning presenter Holly opted for a bright scarlet ensemble which she teamed with a black jacket and opaque tights

And Holly wans't the only familiar face to attend the fashion show with TV presenter Myleene Klass fashion designer Whitney Port also on hand to survey the latest designs at the London Fashion Week Show.

Support: Whitney looked very happy to be there for her friend

Following the current celebrity trend recently championed by fellow Brit Cheryl Cole, Fearne's hair was teased to exaggerate its volume, producing a somewhat artificial effect.

The loose waves were reminiscent of a style often favoured by Gwen Stefani, whose ability to marry cutting edge and retro fashion has made her a style icon.

Loose and lovely: Whitney Port arrived for the show sporting long loose curls and a relaxed but stylish ensemble

Very lovely: Fellow presenter and model Myleene Klass also attended the show

Upping the ante: Fearne Cotton injected some extreme volume into her 'do for her Very collection show

Mixed effect: Though her wavy blonde bob didn't quite match the rest of the look, Fearne pulled off her bold and bright outfit choice

In her first outfit of the day Fearne had donned a bright red lace dress showing off her slender pins and flat stomach.

Her makeup was simple but effective, with mascara and minimal eyeliner creating a little definition around her eyes, and hot pink lipstick as the main focus.

Fearne completed her youthful look with very high leopard print heels.

The star took to Twitter to update fans on her day, tweeting excitedly: 'Morning!

Got Miles Kane in the live lounge today on my show. Then off for my very.co.uk fashion show!'

'On the way to the venue for my fashion show. Eye bags need removing, hair needs brushing, and stomach needs spanx. Goodbye italian gut!' she added this afternoon.

As the show drew closer, nerves started to creep in, as she wrote: 'An hour to go until people start arriving for my fashion show! Ah! Nervous now!'

Losing control: Fearne's hair grew wilder as the event continued

Model style: Though her hair choice was perhaps a misfire, Fearne looked in great shape, showing off her slender pins in a red lace dress

Fellow presenter and model Myleene Klass showed up looking cute in a blue summer dress, like Fearne accentuating her lips with a bright red.

She later tweeted her admiration for Fearne's designs, saying: '@Fearnecotton stirling job tonight Mrs. You should be very proud x'.

Running theme: Big hair and bright lips were a prominent feature of the show itself

Also there was Hills star and fashion designer Whitney Port, who chose wide trousers and a colourful jumper to create a laid-back ensemble.

Whitney was also impressed, and tweeted Fearne afterwards: '@fearnecotton Absolutely LOVED your show! The 60's aesthetic, frizzy hair and bright orange lips were so fun!'.

Youthful: The show had a Sixties aesthetic, focusing on bright colours and loose shapes

Success: Fearne's Fashion Week collection was well received

Pippa Middleton tops off a stellar front row as she is joined by Peaches Geldof and Rosario Dawson at Temperley

By Deborah Arthurs

Style queens: Pippa Middleton was joined in the front row by actress Rosario Dawson, left, in Temperley

Pippa Middleton made her first appearance at London Fashion Week tonight as she joined Peaches Geldof and Rosario Dawson on a star-studded front row at the Temperley catwalk show.

Pippa's arrival caused a flurry of flashbulbs to go off as the assembled crowd craned their necks for a glimpse of the Duchess of Cambridge's sister.

Wearing a cream and black mini dress she had collected from the Temperley store earlier that day, Pippa was groomed to perfection with glossy curls and immaculate make up (in the same kohl-rimmed style favoured by sister Kate).

Pippa managed to look relaxed as the photographers circled, with only her clasped hands holding tightly onto the hemline of her short skirt to avoid a wardrobe malfunction giving a hint that she was not totally at ease.

Pippa has become close to the label's founder Alice Temperley since having a Temperley gown customised in emerald green to wear at the evening reception of Kate and William's wedding.

Joining Pippa on the front row was actress Rosario Dawson in red lace Temperley, last spotted partying at the Roberto Cavalli store launch on Saturday night.

Ladies in red: Peaches wore a full-length red gown with headdress at the show, finished off with a slash of red lipstick, while actress Rosario Dawson, right, sported a red Temperley design

Newly slender Peaches Geldof completed the stellar line-up, wearing a red slip dress with beaded headdress and red platform shoes.

A fashion week regular, Peaches has been seen front row at a number of shows this week after jetting back from the U.S. where she had attended New York's fashion week.

Pippa has been close to Alice Temperley since she chose one of the designers' creations for the evening reception of Kate and William's wedding

THE TEMPERLEY COLLECTION

The collection the stars and the stylish enjoyed was at times ethereal, at times dramatic. Heavy on the intricate beading and lace that have become Temperley's trademark, the palette was subtle - ivories, putty - or graphic and monochromatic.

Dramatic: Black lace was made into sumptuous eveningwear and sophisticated separates

Temperley's trademark style: Intricate beading, bridal-inspired chic and elegant shapes

Watch out Kate Moss! Sarah Harding sets the catwalk on fire with new red tresses as she models at London Fashion Week

By Nadia Mendoza

Model behaviour: Sarah Harding got over her recent split with a new hairdo and by modelling on the catwalk at the Look Fashion Week show at Westfield in Stratford

It's a classic way to heal a broken heart; cry into the pillow, gorge on takeaways, have a makeover, then show your ex what they're missing.

And Sarah Harding is no exception to the rule having dyed her locks red and owning the catwalk at London Fashion Week.

The Girls Aloud star took to the runway at the Look Magazine show, oozing confidence and glamour as she wiggled her hips in various outfits.

Born to perform: Sarah looked ravishing as she owned the stage and put her love troubles behind her

Gracious: Sarah looked like a Hollywood star with her new sophisticated hairstyle

Sarah gave a whole new meaning to 'office chic' as she rocked a flattering white blazer, complete with fitted black trousers and killer heels to match.

She had a natural swagger and appeared to be in her comfort zone in front of the adoring crowds at Westfield shopping centre in Stratford.

The newly singleton later dared to bare in something a little more daring, flashing her midriff in a black boob tube with a colourful dress draped over.

Dionne Bromfield was also in attendance, belting out her vocal chords for a performance while looking like the little diva she is becoming.

Stunning: Sarah oozed glamour as she modelled a vibrant dress with purple boots

Strike a pose: Girls Aloud star looked healthy and sunkissed as she sported a smooth tan which complimented the wild colours of the outfit

Fashion icon in the making: Dionne Bromfield performed at the Look Magazine Spring Summer 2012 show at London Fashion Week

Harding, who just split from fiancé Tom Crane, sizzled with fearlessness as she showcased her new red hairdo at a press call before the show.

Looking absolutely radiant with shimmering skin, sunkissed Sarah sported a fabulous tan which complimented her fiery tresses.

A fresh start: Newly-single Sarah Harding showcases red hair at the Look Magazine fashion party at Westfield in Stratford

Single again: After splitting with Tom Crane, who will be Sarah's next conquest?

Any hint of crying into the pillow was hidden by a glint in her eye that said, 'I'm single and ready to mingle'.

And the 29-year-old is obviously not ready to bid farewell to the summer, showing off her slender figure in white shorts and a vest top speckled with glitter.

She kept things simple with minimal bling, wearing just a handful of bangles around her left wrist and a pair of black and white wedges.

Forcing a smile: Sarah stepped out earlier this week without her engagement ring

Last week, the Biology singer buried herself beneath a flat cap and behind aviator shades as she stepped out minus her engagement ring.

While her forced smile appeared to be more like a grimace, today's outing seemed to generate a genuine smile.

Sarah ended her relationship with the DJ just nine months after getting engaged, which they celebrated with a glitzy party at The Brompton Club.

Blonds have more fun: Sarah sported lighter hair while supporting Kimberley Walsh at the Horrid Henry premiere in July

The split allegedly came after a row between the couple, with Sarah flying to Ibiza, where Tom plays in the top venues, in a bid to save the romance.

Despite the shock of the break-up, their relationship was never a fairytale and throughout their four years they separated several times.

However, they were believed to have overcome their problems after Crane proposed on New Year’s Eve 2010 during a holiday in The Maldives.

But hectic work schedules have been blamed for their fate, with Tom in Spain while Sarah has been shooting Run For Your Wife in London.

The role, which sees Sarah star alongside Danny Dyer and Denise Van Outen, is her first major role following smaller performances in the St Trinian's movies and BBC drama Out Of Control.

Toddlers & Tiaras star aged SIX gyrates on runway at New York Fashion Week

By Tamara Abraham

Inappropriate: Former child beauty queen Eden Wood, six, gyrates as she performs on the catwalk at children's footwear brand Cicciabella's New York Fashion Week show

New York Fashion Week was plunged into controversy today after a six-year-old was allowed to gyrate in skimpy clothing on the catwalk.

Shocking pictures emerged today of Eden Wood, who shot to fame after appearing on TLC reality show Toddlers & Tiaras, dancing provocatively in hotpants and a crop top.

The images will trigger outrage from parents across America, and lead to questions about why Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is allowing such a show to take place.

Controversial: The images of Eden's catwalk debut will trigger outrage from parents across America, and leads to questions about why Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is allowing such a show to take place

The youngster, from Taylor, Arkansas, was modelling for children's footwear brand Cicciabella.

Her appearance in the show flouts guidelines set by fashion industry body CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) which demands that designers do not use models under the age of 16.

But the event's host, Real Housewives star Kelly Bensimon, defended Eden's on-stage performance as just a 'fun, girly moment.'

She told the Daily Beast: 'That wasn’t stripping. That was just her having a little fun, girly moment.

'If she was really doing something, I would have literally moved her into doing something else. I have rules.'

Bending the rules: Children's footwear brand Cicciabella appears to have little regard for CFDA guidelines on models under 16 after it allowed child beauty queen Eden Wood to gyrate in skimpy clothing on the catwalk

Celebrity endorsement: Eden's catwalk debut was at a show hosted by Real Housewife Kelly Bensimon

Earlier this month, the Parents Television Council expressed its fury over a new episode of Toddlers and Tiaras that saw a three-year-old dressed as a prostitute.

The TLC programme shows the child's mother dressing young Paisley up in a costume to mimic Julia Roberts' character from the 1990 hit movie, Pretty Woman.

According to RadarOnline.com, the organisation said: 'We have a serious problem when a network formerly known as The Learning Channel features a toddler, who probably hasn't even learned to read, dressed as a prostitute showing off her sexy strut.'

Outrage: Earlier this month, the Parents Television Council expressed its fury over a new episode of Toddlers and Tiaras that saw a three-year-old dressed as a prostitute

The PTC went on: 'There's no question, TV executives are complicit in robbing these small kids of their childhood.

'For years we've seen adult sexuality being inappropriately and aggressively foisted on innocent young children, but children today are being sexualized at younger and younger ages. All available data suggests they will suffer for it later in life.'

Eden, who retired from the child pageant circuit earlier this year after winning over 300 trophies, is now a household name thanks to the success of the reality show.

She was in New York for the final day of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, for her first fashion endorsement, but given the ambitious plans of her mother, it promises to be the first of many.

In an interview with People today, Micki Wood, 46, said: 'We didn't look for these opportunities. They found us. We've been blessed and lucky.'

But according to reports, Eden has not always been displaying model behaviour. The child star attracted attention for all the wrong reasons on Wednesday when she threw a tantrum at the Allure Fashion Week Lounge.

The youngster, who was accompanied by her mother and agent, lost her temper when she was told she was too young to get her teeth whitened.

Representatives for GLO Brilliant has been offering visitors the chance to try a new home teeth-whitening device, but given that it is not recommended for those under 14, refused to let the kindergartener try it.

Tiny temper: Eden Wood, pictured on Toddlers & Tiaras, threw a tantrum at New York Fashion Week because she was too young to get her teeth whitened

According to the New York Post, the youngster's agent attempted to defuse the situation by telling her, 'You don't have big girl teeth'.

But it did little to soothe the furious child, who wanted desperately to sample the new gadget.

A spokesman for GLO Brilliant later told MailOnline that the firm stood by its decision.

They said: 'Bottom line - her adult teeth have not even come in yet. Whitening is not recommended for children younger than 14 years of age. But [Eden] would look fabulous GLOing - she's just got a few more years to wait!'

Cheers to Kirstie! Miss Alley wears a wizard outfit for star turn at Fashion Week

By Sophie Forbes

Show stopper: Kirstie Alley wowed the crowd as she took to the catwalk at the Zang Toi Spring 2012 show at New York Fashion Week yesterday

While celebrities come out in droves all battling for a front row seat at the best shows New York Fashion Week has to offer there was one person who did things a little differently.

Kirstie Alley outdid celebrities and models alike today by strutting her stuff down the catwalk for Malaysian designer Zang Toi.

Despite being 60-years-old the Cheers star stole the show as she paraded her newly slimmed down physique in front of a packed house at The Studio at the Lincoln Centre.

Wearing a stunning cobalt blue embellished gown and matching dress coat, the actress garnered cheers and loud ovation as she swept up the long catwalk, looking 20-years-younger than her actual age.

'I feel like Cleopatra': Glamorous Kim Kardashian channels old Hollywood in a stunning one shouldered blue gown

She also donned a fitting black dress over a pair of leggings.

Feeling blue: The actress kept a stern face while the crowd cheered and clapped

Her blonde hair was pulled up into a large beehive-style bun, no doubt with hair extensions added to create the full look.

On Tuesday before the show, she tweeted: 'Waaaa Hooooo!!! Kitty is ready to walk the Cat!!! False Bravado will guide me...Let's have some fun @ZANGTOI!!!'.

'Will be winkin and blinking at y'all. DONT make me laugh! Gotta keep model face. Oh, who am I kidding?? Haha,' she tweeted.

Man behind the clothes: Kirstie walked with designer Zang Toi at the end of the show as he beamed and waved to the crowd

Biggest fan: Kirstie said she has known Zang since 1993 and said 'he has the most beautiful clothes, period'

'DO NOT make eye contact! I will start giggling and fall on my well-dressed ass. Look away!'

And after all the fun was over, Kirstie said: 'Thank You all the REAL Models for letting me share @ZANGTOI runway with you!!!!! You all were sooo sweet and looked soooo gorgeous!!!'

She added: 'THANK YOU @ZANGTOI !!!! I love you!!! I had the time of my life!!!!'

It's over now: Kirstie finally cracked a smile, breaking out of her model pose, to congratulate her friend

Farewell: Kirstie and Zang walk backstage to a standing ovation

Inspiration? Kirstie's outfit looked similar to the one worn by Richard Wilson in BBC show Merlin

Kirstie told Entertainment Tonight that she had known Zang since 1993.

'I did the cover of Redbook and I wanted something really beautiful...he just has the most beautiful clothes, period.'

'Thank You all the REAL Models for letting me share @ZANGTOI runway with you! You all were sooo sweet and looked soooo gorgeous!' she tweeted afterwards.

Barefoot beauty: Kirstie showed off her slimmed down figure in a range of outfits

Looking cosy: Kirstie with a mystery man, thought to be her new boyfriend, after the show

Who is he? The pair laughed and joke outside the Lincoln Centre

The actress enjoyed the experience, and the clothes, so much that she walked out of the Lincoln Centre wearing one of the outfits she modelled.

She was then seen laughing and joking with a mystery man, believed to be her boyfriend.

Ricki Lake was one of the first celebrities to share their admiration for the star.

She tweeted: 'Wow! You are a goddess! Yes, indeed an inspiration to me!'

The talkshow host had earlier said she had agreed to take part in Dancing With The Stars after attending a taping of an episode of the previous season, which saw Alley fall and later lose a shoe.

On a high: She was seen after the show looking happy and relaxed and still in one of her catwalk ensembles

Fashionable: Kirstie sporting smokey eye make-up while standing with Zang backstage

After yesterday's show, Kirstie attended the Richie Rich show, tweeting: 'Ritchie Rich....fashion show FUN!!!!! Wild, crazy, wicked!!!!! Thanks Ritchie!!! Off to dinner ...Yots of friends..Yuv.'

It was certainly a hectic day of shows at the Mercedes Benz sponsored fashion Week with Diane Von Furstenberg, Marchesa, Herve Leger, Oscar De La Renta and Tibi all putting their stuff on display.

With the top labels come the celebrities and there was no lack of them lining the front row seats, eager to see what will be lining their wardrobes in the coming months.

Over at Diane Von Furstenberg Nicki Hilton and Nicki Minaj stole the spotlight at the show which got a standing ovation.

Living the life: Nicky Hilton and Nicki Minaj both sat in the front row for Diane Von Furstenberg's Spring show

Costume change: Petra Nemcova then changed into a black leather mini as she posed with Gerard Butler at the Diesel Black Gold event
