Zara's heart to heart with blonde socialite who kissed Mike Tindall

Zara Phillips rang the woman seen kissing her husband on a drunken night out in New Zealand to get reassurance that nothing more happened.

The Queen’s granddaughter, who married England rugby star Mike Tindall just six weeks before he was caught on CCTV cavorting with Jessica Palmer, was shocked to discover the pair used to date.

So she asked for a heart-to-heart talk with the Sydney-based socialite.

Miss Palmer, 29, insisted nothing untoward happened and that they were ‘just two mates mucking around’.

But she apologised profusely for any embarrassment to the 30-year-old royal.

Miss Phillips apparently accepted the explanation and the pair have agreed to put the incident behind them.

A friend said: ‘She took it remarkably well, considering.’

Today the Daily Mail revealed the mystery woman at the centre of the furore as Miss Palmer.

She enjoyed a year-long relationship with Tindall in 2002, shortly before he met his future wife.

When they split they remained close friends.

Miss Palmer has met Miss Phillips on dozens of occasions and even attended the couple’s wedding in July, alongside the Queen.

Three weeks ago CCTV footage emerged of Tindall nuzzling, kissing and hugging a woman during a ‘wild’ night out with the England rugby team in Queenstown, New Zealand at the start of the World Cup.

Miss Phillips was initially said to be ‘dismissive’ of the incident, while her agent insisted the girl was just an old university friend of Tindall, 32.

But it now appears she was not aware the pair had been romantically involved.

After flying to New Zealand a week after the scandal broke, she called Miss Palmer, who had fled home to Sydney.

A close friend told the Daily Mail: ‘You can see why they didn’t mention [their relationship] to her before as there was no need to.

'They were close friends and went back to being close friends. But you can also see why Zara was upset.

‘She rang Jess and they had “clear the air” talks. Jess told her nothing happened, nothing untoward and they were just mates mucking around.

'Zara took it very well, they’re still friends and I think just wants to move on.’

Miss Palmer’s former school friend Vanessa Rooth added: ‘She’s upset as this has been blown out of all proportion.’

Tindall’s spokesman has said the star does not want to comment further.

So Phillip Schofield could be forgiven for getting slightly over-excited when he saw his This Morning co-host Holly Willoughby showing off her curves in a form-fitting red dress today.

And when the pair joined in a cookery demonstration with chef Gino D'Acampo on the ITV1 show today, Phillip couldn't resist getting to grips with Holly's bottom - planting a cheeky flour handprint on his co-presenter's curvy rear.

Holly, who had been learning how to make a pizza with Gino and Phillip, looked stunned as the silver fox grabbed her behind, but appeared to take it in good humour as Phillip later posted a picture of his handprints on her red dress on his Twitter page.

He accompanied the photo with the caption: 'Plain flour? @hollywills ? The temptation was just too much! :)'

Later in the day, Holly was seen showing off her figure in her stunning red dress as she and Phillip shot scenes for the show outside on London's South Bank.

Despite looking incredible in the autumnal outfit, size 12 Holly said previously that she wasn't concerned about losing her baby weight in a hurry.

Following the birth of her son Harry, Holly said: 'Even before I had Harry I was never that skinny, so I'm not worried about it.'

'I've loved seeing the changes in my shape. From the moment I found out I was pregnant, I couldn't wait to be huge!'

Holly returned to This Morning in September after taking maternity leave following the birth of gorgeous daughter Belle.

And as she returned to the ITV morning programme, Holly said: 'It has been wonderful becoming a mum again and spending time with my family but I'm really looking forward to being back on the sofa with Phillip and seeing the team again.'

She added that she and husband Dan Baldwin aren't planning on expanding their family any more in the near future, laughing: 'I keep having children which I'm not going to do for a little while now.'

Being fat was horrible says Gary Barlow as he speaks of battle with depression after Take That split

X Factor judge Gary Barlow has revealed that he is still traumatised by his battle with obesity and depression following the break-up of Take That.

Barlow has now brought his weight below 12st – from a peak of 16st 11lb – thanks to eating less and exercising more.

At his heaviest he had a body mass index of 34.7, classifying him as obese.

Barlow said: ‘I felt horrible. I felt s***. For someone so big, I felt incredibly small.’

The 40-year-old enjoyed brief solo success after Take That split up in 1996, but was dropped by record label Sony BMG after his second album flopped.

He told Radio Times that his weight gain was ‘about food, obviously, because I was shoving it in my mouth, but it was more about a reaction to who I’d been’.

He added: ‘I’d decided, “OK, nobody wants me, but I don’t want to do it anyway, and to make sure I don’t do it again, this is how I’m going to look”.
‘I realised afterwards it was a form of depression.’

He explained: 'The fat was a protective coating. As I got bigger, I found I didn't need a hat or sunglasses. I had my disguise wrapped around me. Then one day, in December 2001, Dawn said: "Babe, I think you should go and see the doctor."

Sweet pie of mine! Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose is unrecognisable after piling on the pounds

He was once a pin-up for millions of rock and roll fans throughout the world.

But it seems Axl Rose's poster boy days are over, judging by photographs of the 49-year-old singer performing with the band in Brazil last night.

The Guns N' Roses frontman was unrecognisable as he took to the stage at the Rock In Rio music festival, with his attempts to cover up his larger frame in a coat failing miserably.

Rose appeared to have gained a significant amount of weight in recent months, with his slimline frame at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards a distant memory.

The rocker teamed his yellow coat with a black hat and sunglasses, with the whole ensemble contributing to his bizarre appearance.

It's not the first time Rose's weight has sparked concern, as he previously shocked fans with his overweight look in January 2010.

His size also led to him being labelled a 'fat Botox-faced wig wearer' by rival rocker Scott Weiland.

But his weight gain appears to have continued over the past year and a half, with Rose looking entirely different as he performed in Brazil.

Gearing up for the performance, Rose told eager fans he was concerned that the pouring rain would make the stage treacherous for the concert.

He said: 'Good evening… good morning! Please bear with us and give us a little second here to figure out what to do about not falling on our asses.

'I'm going to try to focus on singing rather than running around like an idiot. I'm better at being an idiot. We want everybody to be careful.'

The band's performance was their first since last December, and came ahead of the Guns N' Roses' US tour which begins later this month.

The tour will start in Orlando on October 28th and finishes on December 1st in Auburn Hills.

She's been a notable absence from the London celebrity social scene since her unceremonious firing from X Factor USA five months ago.

But tonight, Cheryl Cole made a dazzling comeback to the red carpet as she arrived at the Pride Of Britain Awards in a stunning dusky pink gown... by her old friend Victoria Beckham.

With her blonde curly long bob and floor-length gown, the 28-year-old singer looked a world away from her previous Girls Aloud image of brunette hair and mini skirts.


Her decision to wear a Beckham dress comes as a surprise given her comments about Posh's fashion range two years ago.

In a 2009 interview with The Guardian, Cole dismissed Beckham's dress collection as for 'older women' and 'not something Girls Aloud would wear'.

But perhaps now at the age of 28, Cole considers herself 'old' enough to wear Beckham's critically-acclaimed gowns.

Ahead of the star-studded ceremony, Cole admitted she was feeling anxious about posing on the red carpet.

She tweeted: 'How can I still be nervous about red carpets after 10 (sic) years.. Eeek!

Before arriving at the Grosvenor House Hotel ceremony, Cole asked her Twitter followers to help her choose what earrings to wear.

Cole was attending to present a special award after flying to Afghanistan last month.

'Afghanistan was an unbelievable experience. The whole trip was incredible. The men and women I met out there were inspirational, and so amazingly brave and dedicated.'

Aside from the worthy award winners, the night played host to another meeting between Cole and her X Factor replacement Tulisa Contostavlos.

Representing the WAG contingent was Abbey Crouch and Coleen Rooney, who both attended solo without their respective footballer husbands Peter and Wayne.

Mrs Crouch showed off her tiny figure in a black asymmetrical dress with spiked detail on the shoulder.

Mrs Rooney proved to be a good ambassador for her employer Littlewoods as she wore one of the catalogue's customised little black dresses with a bejewelled neckline and belt.

Also representing her own clothing range was lingerie entrepreneur Michelle Mone, who wore an eye-catching multi-coloured maxi dress from her new Ultimo Couture range.

Model/TV presenter Nell McAndrew was also going for a multi-coloured look in a pretty floral shift dress.

Teen heartthrob Frankie and timid Janet are through to the live X Factor finals with 'super group'

There were some shock decisions made on tonight's episode of The X Factor which saw some of the judges' and audience favourites sent home before the live finals.

Soulful singer and audience favourite Jade was sent home by mentor Kelly Rowland in the girls category, while second-time contestant John said he would not be returning after losing out in this round for the second year running.



The boys: Frankie Cocozza, Craig Colton, James Michaels and Marcus Collins have reached the live shows in the boys category with Gary Barlow

Retail worker Sammi Brookes, 31, was told she was going home in a surprise decision by Over 25s mentor Louis Walsh, but was put through at the eleventh hour after wacky contestant Goldie quit the competition.

Luke Lucas, Marcus collins and Craig Colton were the first of the boys group to hear their fate from Gary Barlow at his home in LA.


The groups: Rhythmix, new lineup The Risk, 2 Shoes and Nu Vibe will all perform on the live shows next week

Luke broke broke down in tears when Gary told him he'd failed to make his final four.

The sweet-faced 16-year-old admitted before hearing the bad news that he believed his audition the day before for Gary and Robbie had let him down. 'I wasn't happy with my performance yesterday,' he said.

'I look back at the very first audition you knocked it out of the park, you were exceptional. So I was really excited yesterday. But I was disappointed,' Gary told him.

'I'm gutted,' Luke told Dermot after his tearful encounter with Gary.
It was good news though for Craig and Marcus, who both got through to the live finals.


Emotional: the teen thought he was going home when mentor Gary told him he didn't have the strongest voice in the competition


Surprise: 23-year-old Marcus Collins joined Frankie in the final four

Devastated: Chasing Keys were sent home after Tulisa decided they weren't enough of a group but too much like a lead singer and his backing vocalists


Blending well: Nu Vibe impressed Tulisa for their personalities, talent and how well they jelled after being thrown together



Tough decision: Tulisa was left with one spot and looked at combining two of the bands she's just kicked out


Call back: Charlie and members of The Risk were called back by Tulisa and asked if they'd like to form a super group


Jump for joy: They answered yes and immediately celebrated by jumping in the pool


It's a yes: Kitty Brucknell was put through, despite Louis' concern that working with her would be 'a nightmare'


Audience favourite: Johnny Robinson couldn't believe it when he was told he was through to the live finals



Second chance: Sami Brookes was devastated to hear she wasn't through, but was later recalled when Goldie quit


Quit: Comedic contestant Goldie initially got through, but later pulled out of the competition as she was missing her family


Sore: Terry took his bad news well on the show, but has more recently launched a scathing attack on Louis Walsh


Emotional: Soldier Jonjo Kerr was the last of the Over 25s to win his place


Tears: Misha Bryan was the first of the girls to hear good news from Kelly Rowland in Miami



Nerves: Misha had been concerned that her audition wasn't good enough after Jennifer Hudson's presence unnerved her


Shock: Sophie Habibas was successful despite Kelly wondering if she 'wanted it enough' while Amelia Lily also got through to the finals


Timid: Janet Devlin from Northern Ireland was told by Kelly that she needed to work on her confidence and realise just how talented she is


Tough decisions: Kelly found it difficult to tell crowd favourite Jade that she was going home


Disappointed: Jade admitted tearfully, 'I’ve probably just blown the biggest chance I ever had'
