Mahendra Singh Dhoni Got Engaged With Sakshi

India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Saturday got engaged to his school-time friend Sakshi Singh Rawat at a hotel in Dehradun.

"Dhoni and his school friend Sakshi got engaged at hotel Bhagirath in Dehradun," a close family friend said.

"Besides, the family members of Dhoni, a few close friends of the cricketer were present during the engagement ceremony," he added.

Dhoni, 28, and Rawat had been school friends at DAV, Shamily in Ranchi."Their fathers worked together in MECON, and the Rawats moved to Dehradun after retirement," the friend said.

Asked whether any date for marriage has been fixed, he said, "Not yet, maybe after the Australian series."

Bollywood's Disappointment On FIFA World Cup

Unbelievable!", "Don't feel like watching football anymore", "I'm shattered"... Bollywood's biggest stars could not get over their disappointment on Friday night, when their favourite team - Brazil - was thrown out of the FIFA World Cup in a shocking defeat to the Netherlands.

"Can't believe what's happening, it's unbelievable," wrote actor Sanjay Dutt on Twitter. "Federer out from Wimbledon, Brazil from World Cup ... Don't feel like watching any more football! Brazil out! Oh! heartbreaking," wrote Amitabh Bachchan, who had been rooting for Brazil and Argentina.

Abhishek Bachchan, a hardcore Brazil fan, was shattered. "Still SHATTERED!!!!! but MUST give the Netherlands their due. They played their hearts out...Brazil got robbed," tweeted Abhishek. "Shocked at Brazil's defeat!

This world cup is truly outrageously shocking," posted Jiah Khan. "Brazil out???????!!!!!!!," posted filmmaker Kunal Kohli. "Omggg did you ever imagine this?Unbelievable," posted actress Sameera Reddy. "That's a HUGE upset," said Lara Dutta.

Cricketer Zaheer Khan was also devastated. "Can't believe Brazil is out after being 1-0 in the first half!", he said. Former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi wrote, "In South Africa, What an upset. Great game. Brazil crashes."

The only person who seemed happy was actress Neha Dhupia who wrote, "Wow! Soccer... the way I like it! Happy cause it gets easier for Argentina to pick up the cup!!!"

Deepika Padukone To Play Badminton With Saina Nehwal

If all goes well, tennis ace Saina Nehwal may soon be serving against actress Deepika Padukone in a one-of-its-kind badminton match.

When Saina won her third Super Series title in a row, actress Deepika Padukone, a former state-level badminton champion, not only congratulated her, but invited the 20-year-old to play a match with her.

Talking to HT City, Saina said, "It will be fun to play a match with Deepika. Though I've met her once in Delhi, I'm sure it would great to meet her again, this time on the badminton court."

"Let's play a game when ur in mumbai next. been a while since I played," Deepika had written on Twitter, after Saina's win. Incidentally, Deepika is the daughter of veteran badminton player Prakash Padukone, whom Saina admires.

Katrina Kaif Win Her A National Award For Raajneeti

Salman Khan flaunted his Veer heroine, Zarine Khan, publicly at Aamir Khan's party two weeks ago, but Katrina Kaif is unperturbed. Currently in Spain, shooting for Zoya Akhtar's Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, the actress is busy toasting the success of Raajneeti.

"Two days after Raajneeti released, I had to leave for Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and it felt nice to leave on a happy note. Of course I can't expect my co-stars, Hrithik (Roshan), Farhan (Akhtar) and Abhay (Deol) to be in a celebratory mood when they have nothing to do with my film," she laughs.

There was talk that she expects the performance to win her a National Award but the critics weren't too impressed. "There was always a certain anticipation but the audience response has far surpassed our expectations. We have passed the test that matters, everything else is secondary," she asserts.

Lights, camera, action

Right now she's living life to the fullest, on screen and off it. "Zoya is a free-spirited woman and that vibe comes across in the movie. It's great teaming up with Hrithik who's a phenomenal actor, a fun-loving Farhan and an easy-going Abhay, who, for all his laid-back attitude, knows exactly what he wants and how to go about getting it," she says.

Kaif will be doing her own stunts in the film and has taken training in scuba diving and dirt biking. "I love going underwater though the equipment you have to lug around can be cumbersome. And I've rode bikes occasionally," she says modestly.

Buzz is that she is also planning her own production? "Yes, I want to buy the remake rights of a French film that released in 2006, but I have no plans of producing it. I'm only interested is in playing the lead because she is a character I haven't played before," Kaif insists. She refuses to reveal the name of the movie as she doesn't want to give other filmmakers ideas. "Why take chances?" she quips.

Ram Gopal Varma Hates The FIFA World Cup

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma doesn't just detest romantic dramas, he hates sports too and even those who like to watch sports.

"If there's one thing I hate more than sports it's the people who love sports. Hatred could be because I got severely injured while playing cricket at the age of 12 and ever since I stayed away.

Only thing I ever liked playing was 'I spy'," Varma posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.

With the FIFA World Cup and Wimbledon in full swing, everyone seems to be talking of sports. But Varma seems to be vary of it.

Aamir Khan Make A Film On US President George Washington

Ace Bollywood actor-filmmaker Aamir Khan must make a film on first US president George Washington and win an Oscar for it, says veteran Indian singer Asha Bhosle.

"Since Englishmen can make Oscar (winning) films like 'Gandhi' and 'Slumdog (Millionaire)', Aamir Khan should make a film on George Washington and win the Oscar finally," said Bhosle.

Earlier, Aamir attended the Oscar ceremony along with filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker in 2002 when their film "Lagaan" was nominated for the best foreign language film.

However, it lost to "No Man's Land" from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Kareena Kapoor To Encourage Ngos Education

Kareena Kapoor, who has been busy with her back-to-back shooting schedules, is taking time out to arrange books and stationery items for donation to NGOs to encourage education.

A source revealed Kareena is arranging these things for a couple of non-profit learning institutes. The actress is currently shooting for beau Saif Ali Khan’s ’Agent Vinod’ in Morocco.

"Kareena feels very strongly for the cause (of educating children) and in spite of being in Morocco she is constantly making calls to India to co-ordinate books she wants sent to some orphanages and learning institutes," the source said.

Kareena recently joined the team of the Global Campaign for education-1Goal as their Indian ambassador. The campaign backs the cause of education for 72 million children out of school. (IANS)
