Kareena Kapoor Has Launched Her Official Website

When Bollywood stars are busy tweeting, actress Kareena Kapoor has launched her official website and promises to update her fans regularly.

"This is my own site, my own space. I like the idea of leaving Post-it notes for my fans. I have created a special fan book where fans can write to me directly," Kareena, 29, said.

One of the notes on her website www.kareenakapoor.me said: "Club Kareena is my official fan club. Check out Club Kareena on Facebook and Twitter."

Another recent development in Kareena’s professional life has been her association with FIFA 1 GOAL, an International campaign on Education for all. She has become the first Indian actress to be associated with FIFA 1 GOAL.

She has joined the likes of Matt Damon, Jessica Alba, Kevin Spacey, and Hillary Clinton and believes her website would help the campaign to reach people, who don’t know much about Indian cinema.

"1 GOAL campaign will reach a number of people who are not familiar with Indian cinema. This site will be a window to India and Indian cinema," she said. (IANS)

Shah Rukh Khan Has Tied Up With MTV

Shah Rukh Khan's TV production company, Red Chillies Idiot Box, has tied up with MTV to produce 'Cornetto Luv Reels'. It will premiere two young mushy rom-coms for two weeks, starting June 3.

Fresh faces have been cast in these TV movies that will be helmed by experienced directors like Somnath Sen who has the Dimple Kapadia-Vinod Khanna starrer, Leela, to his credit.

"MTV had approached us with the concept. We thought it could lend a new dimension to TV programming and came on board to give a 'film feel' to these stories," says Idiot Box's Samar Khan, who had earlier directed the critically acclaimed Shaurya.

He insists that Idiot Box has always tried to break convention. "The programming has to be innovative. It may or may not work, but at least it should be something that no one has seen before," Khan asserts. At the moment, he is unsure if the partnership will extend beyond these two TV films. "It depends on the response. If the format is accepted, we will take it forward and may even use these actors in other projects," he says.

Will the films be released in theatres? "That's MTV's prerogative," says Khan. Meanwhile, the channel has tied up with Milestone Movies Pvt Ltd for a third movie that will also be screened in July.

MF Husain Has Found A New Muse Gorgeous Vidya Balan

After Madhuri Dixit, Tabu and Amrita Rao, MF Husain has found a new muse. The 94-year-old artist has reportedly watched Ishqiya (2010) 12 times already - he had earlier seen Dixit's Hum Aapke Hain Kaun...! (1994) 70 times-and is 'fida' over the gorgeous Vidya Balan. He wants to paint her and wants her in his next directorial venture.

The actress admits that they have spoken and Husain has been extremely generous with his compliments. "I was so overwhelmed when I heard this, I remember reading about him painting Madhuri years ago. And a painting by Husain saab would immortalise me, though I don't know how to react to the word 'gorgeous'," Balan laughs.

She admits that though she has been exposed to his art, she hasn't seen his two earlier films, Gaja Gamini (2000) and Meenaxi-A Tale of Three Cities (2004). "But I will definitely watch both the films before we meet," she asserts. "I'd love to work with him and I'm hoping we can get started on the movie by next year."

Inspiring Sabrina

Meanwhile, Balan who is being felicitated at every award function for Paa or Ishqiya, has almost wrapped up No One Killed Jessica in which she is playing a character reportedly inspired by the late model's sister Sabrina Lall. Lall, for 11 years, continued with her crusade for justice and was finally vindicated when the accused, Manu Sharma, was found guilty and got a life sentence.

Contrary to rumours, Balan says she hasn't met Sabrina Lall yet. "She's never visited the sets, I'd have known if she had, but she's definitely the face of the Jessica Lall case," Balan asserts. "Her fight has proved that you have to be the change you want to see in the world."

In her own way, Balan points out, she too has fought to live and work on her terms. It wasn't easy veering away from the conventional stereotype and choosing to do films like Paa and Ishqiya. "But I defied the rules and today I am in a unique position where little kids address me as 'Paa ki maa' and young men see me as Krishna whose 'gaalis' are sexy," she laughs.

The 45-year-old star's followers have already reached 59,625 on the very first day and the number is still increasing.

Filmmaker Karan Johar welcomed Aamir by tweeting: @aamir_khan on twitterverse people!!!

Salman Khan posted: "Aamir on twitter guyz".

Priyanka Chopra wrote, "Welcoming the amazing @aamir_khan !!! Show him some loooove people!!!"

Suchitra Sen Has Been Admitted To A Private Nursing Home

Suchitra Sen, the reclusive screen goddess of yesteryears, has been admitted to a private nursing home here following chest infection and breathlessness.

The 79-year-old, who dominated the Bengali film world from the 1950s to mid-1970s, was stable and responding to treatment at the Intensive Therapy Unit, the Bellevue Clinic said.

"Suchitra Sen was admitted with respiratory distress in the intensive therapy unit due to chest infection. She is responding to therapy. Her condition is stable now," the bulletin said.

Suchitra, known as the Greta Garbo of Indian cinema for her reclusiveness since retiring from the silver screen in 1978, was admitted to the nursing home a few days back under critical care specialist Subroto Moitra. She is on restricted diet.

Her daughter is actor Moon Moon Sen while she has two granddaughters - Riya and Raima Sen. Both are Bollywood actors.

Her pairing with Bengali matinee idol Uttam Kumar since the late 1950s produced one box office hit after another. Film buffs outside West Bengal remember her for her powerful performance in the 1975 Gulzar movie Aandhi besides her earlier films with Dev Anand. (IANS)

Amitabh Bachchan Is Back In Ooty For Kandahar

After a gap of more than two decades, Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan is back in Ooty

to shoot for a Malayalam film Kandahar.

The film, directed by ’Major’ Ravi, is based on the real life incident involving hijacking of an Indian Airlines flight to Kandahar. It also stars Malayalam actor Mohanlal.

"Amitabh enacts the role of a father, whose commando-son was killed by militants during the rescue operations," Ravi said.

He said the crew would proceed to Afghanistan, Russia and Dehradun for shooting important scenes after the three day shoot here.

Amitabh, who had long back shot here for Shahenshah, had given three day call-sheet, he said, adding that the crew would shoot some scenes in and around the town and also on the premises of Madras Regiment Centre in Wellington. 

Zarine Khan Has Discussed Her Gossip With Salman Khan

A strong resemblance to Katrina Kaif and her proximity to Salman Khan — both factors keep this porcelain beauty in the news. And far from getting perturbed, Zarine Khan is all poise and maturity when you quiz her about either.

Recently in the news for attending a party with Salman by her side, Zarine coolly says, “I don’t understand the fuss. Salman’s my mentor and whatever I am today is because of him. So what if I attended one party with him? As far as my resemblance to Katrina is concerned, well, she’s way too good-looking.”

Ask her if she has discussed this bit of gossip with Salman, and she says, “I have a lot of other things to talk about, like the next film I am doing with him. When I personally don’t lend credence to any of these link-up rumours, why would I even talk about these to him?” she asks, adding, “I am in B-town to make a career, and not paying heed to gossip is the first thing I have learnt.”

Another reason Zarine is in the news is because of her brand new heart-shaped tattoo near her ankle. Isn’t she concerned that it will again make the gossip mills work overtime? She replies, “I have my own likes and dislikes, and a tattoo is something I’ve always wanted.

Why link it to anything or anyone?” And does this choice of design bring out typically girlie, mushy emotions? She says, “Not really. I’ve always been a tomboy. Didn’t you notice it’s also got a dagger to make the whole design look rather mean? What’s feminine or mushy about that?”
