Raj Thackeray to hold a special screening of Singham

`Singham` starring action hero Ajay Devgn is all set to hit the theatres this Friday. Devgn plays a Maharashtrian cop in the Rohit Shetty flick and it seems this has prompted MNS Chief Raj Thackeray to ask the star to hold a special screening of the film before it’s day of release.

Talking to a tabloid, a source confirmed the news and said, "Raj Thackeray wants to watch the film, and Ajay is trying his best to arrange a special screening for him."

Ajay plays Bajirao Singham, an honest police officer who is hell bent on resurrecting the deteriorating socio-political situation despite opposition from the antagonists.

"Since the film has really worked in Tamil, Raj Thackeray is keen to see how the janata in Maharashtra has been portrayed in the film," added the source.

The politician had previously asked Aamir Khan to organize a special screening of his adult comedy `Delhi Belly` for his friends. And the actor was more than happy to do so. And now its Ajay’s turn.

"This is not an attempt to publicise the film. But when a top politician in the city expresses his desire to watch it, you definitely have to respect that," the source said.

It will be interesting to hear Raj’s feedback after watching the film, for he will, get to see Ajay fighting corrupt politicians in `Singham`.

Ajay Devgn Plays A Very Tough Cop In Rohit Shetty’s Singham

Ajay Devgn’s look in Rohit Shetty’s Singham has been the talk of the town for quite some time now. The Raajneeti actor, who plays a sturdy cop in the action thriller had to train under the watchful eyes of Prashant Sawant for three months to achieve the "manly" look that the director required.

Says Shetty, "We’ve tried to achieve for Ajay the physique of a man who could bash up 20 people, if he so wished. It’s not a six pack look. Anyone can achieve that with injections and steroids. The manliness has to come through as he plays a tough cop who is from a village on the Maharastra Goa border. It is a raw action film filled with hand to hand combat scenes, something one rarely gets to see in movies in this day and age of high gadgetry."

And the end product was a result of much hard work put in by the star as well as his trainer. "Ajay plays a very tough cop. He needed to look the part by losing weight, developing more cuts on his body and appear more lean and muscular. After training for an hour and half, I oversaw his diet and made sure he maintained a high protein low carb diet every three hours. I then had him do a rigorous combination of weights and circuit super sets that incorporated all techniques including push ups and pull ups," reveals Prashant.

But as Sawant himself admits, the task was barely difficult for the action hero. "Ajay has a great body and he has always been a fitness freak. It’s not difficult for him to maintain it," says Prashant.

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi To Met Actor Ajay Devgn

Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn wants Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to see and give his views on his recently-released film "Rajneeti". The two met at the state secretariat.

Devgn met Modi in a bid to explore the possibility of setting up a solar power project in the state, an official aware of the developments said.

The actor was all praise for his leadership qualities and style of governance and extended his greetings on the occasion of the state's golden jubilee, he said.

Devgn recalled how during a shooting schedule for a film in Kutch he had found the backdrop picturesque. He said he looked forward to acting in more films in Gujarat.

Several stars have expressed their desire to set up projects in the state. Among those who have met Modi recently are: Anupam Kher, Shatrughan Sinha, Jackie Shroff, Sanjay Dutt, Paresh Rawal, Shilpa Shetty, Anil Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan.
