Prakash Jha's "Raajneeti" is running to packed houses at a retrospective of his films being held in Fiji and the Indian filmmaker is overwhelmed by the response to his political thriller.
"I'm overwhelmed with the response the film has had internationally. I am amazed that a film with this kind of a context is appealing to so many people and getting acclaim from critics world over," Jha said in a statement from Fiji.Fiji National University, Fiji Audio Visual Commission, Damodar Brothers and the Indian high commission in Fiji have organised the festival that was inaugurated Wednesday by Fiji Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimar.
"Raajneeti" starred big names like Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and Katrina Kaif and the violent thriller about the clash between two brothers of a political family set somewhere in northern India had the cash registers ringing when it was released in India in June this year.
Along with "Rajneeti", which is said to be the third highest grossing film across the world, Jha's "GangaaJal", "Apaharan", "Mrityudand", "Parinati" and "Damul" are also being showcased.
Another retrospective of Jha's films was held at the Nehru Centre in London June 30-July 2 this year.
