Vijayawada Police Cancelled The Permission For RGV

Vijayawada police Wednesday cancelled the permission for the shooting of eminent filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma`s Telugu movie `Bezwada Rowdeelu` following an appeal by a group of lawyers from the city.

Vijayawada Police Commissioner Amit Garg issued orders to cancel the permission for filming of the controversial movie, which is said to be based on the tussle between two local politicians - Devineni Nehru and late legislator Vangaveeti Ranga.

The shooting of the movie, starring young actor Naga Chaitanya, was going on in the city for last few days. The orders were issued after the police chief consulted legal experts following representations by various groups.

Sarvodaya Mandali, an association of lawyers, had urged the police commissioner to cancel the permission on the ground that it would vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in the city.

The lawyers alleged that the filmmaker was trying to portray the conflicts between two social groups.

Vijayawada city in the coastal district of Krishna was rocked by violence between two groups in 1980s. Nehru`s two brothers and legislator Ranga and his brother were killed in the violence.

Ranga`s murder in 1988 had led to large scale riots in coastal Andhra Pradesh, claiming several lives and destruction of property.

Lawyers` association president N. Srihari said the movie could re-open the old grudges and disturb peace and harmony. Claiming that people had forgotten the incidents, he said the movie could hurt the sentiments of the communities.

The citizens have also taken exception to the title of the movie, saying it would spoil city`s image and hurt their sentiments.

"Bezwada Rowdeelu" means the rowdies of Bezwada, the old name of Vijayawada.

This is the second time in recent months that Varma`s movie has sparked a controversey. His multi-lingual movie `Rakhta charitra`, based on the factional war in Andhra Pradesh`s Rayalaseema region, had also created a row with various groups calling for ban on the ground that it could lead to a fresh spell of violence.

The movie, released late last year, was based on the fight between two powerful leaders of Anantapur district. The people of Anantapur had also taken exception to the filmmaker using the name of their district. The protests forced Varma to change the name to `Anandapuram`.

Ram-Gopal-Varma-

After taking inspiration from slain political leader Paritala Ravindra for "Rakta Charitra", filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is now motivated to unfold the drama behind political mechanisms in his next "Raajakeeyam".

"`Company` was about underworld politics and `Sarkar` was about family politics. But I never ever made a film on political politics.

But now seeing the incredible drama unfolding, I have developed this tremendous desire to do a film called `Rajakeeyam`," Varma posted on his Twitter page.

"`Raajakeeyam` will deal with behind the scenes of political mechanisms and political psychologies. Hearing about what`s going on behind the going ons...it dawned upon me that more than politics in underworld, there is more underworld in politics," he added.

Varma has earlier made "Rann", which was his attempt to unravel the politics in the media world. Filmmaker Prakash Jha also brought politics as a theme in his movie "Raajneeti", which recieved rave reviews.

Ram Gopal Varma Hates The FIFA World Cup

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma doesn't just detest romantic dramas, he hates sports too and even those who like to watch sports.

"If there's one thing I hate more than sports it's the people who love sports. Hatred could be because I got severely injured while playing cricket at the age of 12 and ever since I stayed away.

Only thing I ever liked playing was 'I spy'," Varma posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.

With the FIFA World Cup and Wimbledon in full swing, everyone seems to be talking of sports. But Varma seems to be vary of it.

Vishwajeet Pradhan Was Seriously Injured In Rakta Charitra Sets

Actor Vishwajeet Pradhan was seriously injured yesterday afternoon while executing a stunt scene on the sets of Ram Gopal Varma’s Rakta Charitra.

He was shooting the climax where he was supposed to be shot dead. The blast was so intense that he had a huge cut along his jaw line that requires surgery. He has been admitted to an emergency ward.

Our source said, “It was a normal blast scene that went haywire as the impact was very powerful. It hit his face, leaving him bleeding. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where they suggested that he should be taken to a bigger hospital.

He was admitted to an emergency ward but was later shifted to a normal ward. Surgery will be performed on his face on Tuesday and subsequently he will require plastic surgery to hide the scar.”

Naturally, the actor and his wife are worried as the wounds require serious attention. Vishwajeet’s wife Sonalika Pradhan elaborated, “He was shooting at Kamalistan when this injury happened. The doctors have asked us to wait till Tuesday before they perform the surgery. They have told us that the injury is pretty serious and we will have to go in for plastic surgery.”

Vishwajeet Pradhan has bigger problems on hand. He said, “It was my death sequence in the film. The blast was very powerful. I am worried as it has impacted my face and there will be many continuity issues with my other films.”

Ram Gopal Varma was not on the sets when the accident happened and the shoot was being handled by action director duo Aejaz-Javed.
